  • Continuous Training for Teachers in Bulgaria Project

    International project (129193-CP-1-2006-1-DE– COMENIUS–C21) that was running from 01.10.2006 until 30.12.2009.   • Secondary Education Laboratory Centers for Physical Sciences - EKFE

    The Secondary Education Laboratory Centers for Physical Sciences (EKFE) (44 all over Greece) constitute a non-formal educational initiative functioning under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. The EKFEs give the opportunity to groups of secondary school children to perform chemistry experiments and aid teachers in designing and doing chemistry experiments in their own school units (either in class or in labs). The EKFE personnel (science teachers) produce and provide educational material (tests, videos, virtual lab experiments, simple chemical equipment), organize events related to applications of chemistry in everyday life (informal lectures) and prepare students for participating in the chemistry Olympiad and other chemistry competitions.

    The Inter-university Inter-depatmental Program of Graduate Studies on “Chemical Education and New Educational Technologies” (known as “Dixinet”) aims at providing scientific and educational training at graduate level to actual and future secondary teachers of Chemistry in Greece. One of the major goals of the Dixinet Master’s Program is to upgrade the role of the science of Chemistry in society in relation with dealing with modern social problems and to bring out the close connection of chemistry with everyday life phenomena and applications.

  • PARSEL Project

    PARSEL stands for Popularity and Relevance of Science Education for Science Literacy. It is a European Project carried out by a consortium of 8 Universities in 7 countries (Greece, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Israel) and the International Council of Associations for Science Education (UK). During the project, alternative teaching material was developed and tested in order to promote popularization of science and increase the level of scientific literacy. The produced alternative teaching material aims at promoting student interest in science without alienating the teaching from the curriculum intentions.
