ACTIVITIES REPORT
Partners' Institution:
T.E.I of the Ionian Islands
Project's period (from/to):
01 March 2010 - 31 2010
WPs concerned:
WP 2 - Identification of barriers and success factors in Life Long Learning of scientific subjects

Objectives of activities carried out:
- Identification and review of 15 documents concerning the analysis and definition of Life Long Learning (LLL) policies in scientific subjects

- Identification and review of 5 strategies concerning the analysis and definition of Life Long Learning policies in scientific subjects

Collecting and reviewing of main publications and documents concerning the analysis and definition of LLL policies in scientific subjects

Collecting and reviewing information concerning the implementation of intervention strategies as fas as LLL in scientific subjects is concerned

Carrying out of Case Studies on the field based on direct interviews with 10 secondary school Chemistry teachers and 10 adult learners

Carrying out of Case Studies on the field starting from direct interviews with 10 Secondary School teachers of Chemistry and 10 adult learners.

Time period:
March -August 2010

Description of activities carried out:
WP2
Bibliographical search was carried out in order to check the availability of documents and strategies related to LLL policies applied to Greece

Emphasis was first given to the identification of documents written in English by Greek researchers and published in international journals with peer review.

Subsequently we searched for documents written in the Greek language

WP2.3
- The interviews of the 10 adult learners were analyzed in order to produce 10 case studies.
- 10 Secondary school teachers were identified, their interviews were taken and subsequently analyzed. The respective 10 case studies were also produced.

WP2.1
A total of 35 documents (as required) concerning the analysis and definition of LLL policies in scientific subjects were identified and reviewed. There was special care taken so that the documents are related (at least indirectly) to Chemistry in particular, and of course to refer to the Greek reality

WP2.2
A total of 15 initiatives concerning LLL in scientific subjects (again with emphasis on Chemistry) in Greece were identified and reviewed.

WP2.3
10 adult learners were identified and reviews were taken from all of them.

Outcomes:
There was successful identification of 15 documents and 5 strategies concerning the Life Long Learnig policies in Greece. 12 out of the 15 documents are publications in international journals in the English language and are related to barriers to LLL in Greece as well as initiatives to overcome these barriers.
All documents and strategies are related to LLL specifically in Chemistry ie closely connected to the goals of the porject undertaken.

WP2.1
The reviews of all 35 identified documents were uploaded on the Chemistry is All Around Us Portal

WP2.2
The reviews of all 15 identified initiatives were uploaded on the Chemistry is All Around Us Portal

WP2.3
10 interviews from adult learners were taken and became available for analysis

- Production of 20 Case Studies
- All case studies were sent to the Partner Connectis in order to be uploaded on the Project Portal

Evaluation of the work undertaken:
The documents and strategies were presented to the kick-off meeting in Genoa (March 15-16, 2010) and they were received as up to data and closely relevant to the project

All activities of WP2 are now successfully completed and according to the timetable that was agreed on the kick-off meeting in March 2010.

- The bibliographical search (WP2.1 and WP2.2) was completed successfully. The material collected is of very good quality, it is directly related to LLL in Chemistry and will be valuable for the production of the National report (WP3.1)
- The interviews taken from the adults were of very good quality (the adults gave interesting answers and participated enthusiastically in the project)

The results of the case study analysis are very interesting and will be integrated very well in the National Report.
