SCI is composed of 17 regional sections, 11 divisions (ie. Educational division, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry..) and many interdivisional groups. A special section is dedicated to young members. Its main activity is the dissemination of chemical science.
The main objective is the dissemination of chemical science and of its applications, in order to evidence its importance in modern society.
The members are mainly chemists, but the SCI activities are also addressed to schools (from primary to high school) teachers, students and people with basic scientific knowledge, interested in broadering their specific culture or in satisfying thei
SCI provides a constant update about scientific and technological themes, organizes forums, meetings, courses, schools and collaborates with the Ministry of the Public Instruction for the diffusion of scientific knowledge and edits books and magazines.
SCI is composed by about 5000 members and their work addresses a wide range of people in the whole country.
The intense and continuous work of dissemination, education in schools, participation to projects financed by the Ministry of Public Instruction for the diffusion of the scientific culture etc. result in an efficacious guardianship of the scientific disciplines such as chemistry.
SCI is the most rigorous and important organization devoted to popularization, education and dissemination of chemistry in Italy.
