TITLE OF THE INITIATIVE:

Expedition Zukunft

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INITIATIVE:

In the year of sciences 2009 the Science Express visited 62 German cities.

OBJECTIVE OF THE INITIATIVE:

It was not the only aim of the train of science to demonstrate young people science research and development as a career path. Basically Expedition Zukunft wanted to show that the human race needs the modern natural and life sciences to secure a good future.

TARGET GROUP OF THE EVENT:

Children, adults.

ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE EVENT:

In twelve converted railway carriages, visitors can immerse themselves in different topics, from cosmology and particle physics, nanotechnology and brain research to applied research and industrial production, agriculture, energy, environment and mobility.

IMPACT OF THE EVENT:

National impact.

RESULTS REACHED:

The project was successful with large attendances in all cities.

EVALUATION OF THE INITIATIVE:

The project office still gets inquiries from all over Germany and awards for concept and design of the Science Express.
The University of Technique and Economy Berlin rated the Expedition Zukunft as a targeted and democracy supporting communication activity in science.
