Training and educational research: the role of the Division of Chemical Education
Marilena Carnasciali, Aldo Borsese
(University of Genova)
Paper from the Proceedings of the 6th National Conference of the Division of Chemical Education ( Bari 30th october 2008)
Italian
The document is the presentation of activities carried out by the Division of Chemical Education of the Italian Chemistry Society (SCI) to promote scientific and technological knowledge and to encourage people to attend scientific faculties.
With these objectives the members of the Division of Chemical Education collaborate with schools of each order, in particular by participating in the projects:
- ISS (Teaching Experimental Sciences): national project financed by the Ministry of Public Instruction and dedicated to improving the teaching-learning process at compulsory schools.
- PLS (Scientific Degrees Project): national project financed by the Ministry of Public Instruction and dedicated to increasing the interest of high school students in a few scientific university courses (chemistry, physics, material science, mathematic).
Moreover, the Division of Chemical Education devotes itself to train new teachers of primary and high school and carries out much research in the field of chemical education.
Finally it constantly submits valid proposals to the Ministry of Public Instruction in order to improve the teaching-learning process from primary school to university.
The activities of the Italian Chemistry Society, in particular its educational division, show that it is the biggest and the most effective national organization devoted to chemistry teaching and divulgation.
