TITLE OF THE INITIATIVE:

CHiK – Chemie im Kontext

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INITIATIVE:

A project for the development of chemistry classes.

OBJECTIVE OF THE INITIATIVE:

Objective of the initiative is to encourage the independent and self-directed learning processes of the pupils to improve their natural scientific basic knowledge.

TARGET GROUP OF THE EVENT:

Teachers, students

ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE EVENT:

Chemistry teachers of 14 federal states in Germany worked together with didacts in regional groups and developped new forms of teaching for all forms and types of schools. The teaching units have workaday references to demonstrate the meaning of chemistry for the daily life.

IMPACT OF THE EVENT:

Local, regional, national impact.

RESULTS REACHED:

A reasonable project to start a rethinking in chemistry teaching systems.

EVALUATION OF THE INITIATIVE:

The rethinking in teaching systems creates the possibility to develop a positive attitude towards chemistry among the student community and cultivates creativity and general scientific skills.
